Service Description
BT Broadcast Services is the No. 1 provider of advanced technology management and multimedia
distribution solutions.
Broadcast Services exists to serve the world's broadcasters, providing a range of content
handling services from simple transmission to private networks to content management
and consumer call centres. It is our established policy to provide customers with products
and services which are fit for their intended purpose, delivered on time and at agreed
cost.
BT, has been working in partnership with the television and radio industry since the
beginning of broadcasting in the UK more than 60 years ago.
Our Washington DC, Los Angeles, London and Paris hubs have satellite and terrestrial
interconnectivity, giveing access to regional broadcasters, content owners and service
providers. We have other operational bases in Italy, Germany, Benelux, and Argentina
as well a network of co-operative relationships and partners throughout the world.
Broadcast Services owns and operates a fleet of 44 satellite up-link trucks in Europe
and South America. We have 118 satellite dishes carrying 349 services.
In 1998 Broadcast Services won contracts totalling £215 million to deliver and manage
the worlds first national digital terrestrial television (DTTV) distribution network.
We have a range of Internet Protocol (IP) services from network overlays to internet
and intranet streaming and already developing the next generation of IP and non-IP services.
